Renowned Nigerian actor Amaechi Muonagor has passed away, according to Morris Monye, the chairman of the Delta State Sports Association and a prominent social media influencer.
On Sunday, Monye revealed this via his official X account.
He expressed his profound sadness over the actor’s passing.
“Deeply heartbroken by the news of Amaechi Muonagor’s passing. He was a talented Nollywood actor whose presence on our screens was truly masterful.
“We watched with concern as he battled health issues, offering whatever support we could to help him seek treatment in India.
“This tragic loss highlights the need for better healthcare in our country,” he wrote.
The 61-year-old Nollywood star appealed Nigerians for financial assistance for his kidney transplant in a heartbreaking video just a week ago.
Tony “Oneweek” Muonagor, the actor’s relative, revealed that he was suffering from kidney disease on November 27, 2023.
Muonagor has starred in numerous films over his career, including one of his most well-known parts, Paw Paw, in which he played the father of two boisterous, mischievous teenagers.
Muonagor passed away on March 2, 2024, the same day as Mr. Ibu (John Okafor).
