“I’m here because of Burna, Wizkid, Davido, and Olamide right now.” – Omah Lay

Well-known Afropop performer Omah Lay discusses how earlier musicians cleared the path for him in the Nigerian music scene.

The “Soso” singer mentioned the artists he thinks are essential to his rise to fame in the music industry in a recent interview.

He mentioned Burna Boy, Olamide, Davido, and Wizkid, saying that these artists allowed him to get to where he is now.

Omah Lay said he’s not sure what it is about him that makes him stand apart from everyone else and his peers, but he knows he’s being authentic when he creates music.

His words …

“I feel like I wouldn’t have been here if it weren’t for the previous generation – Burna, Wiz, Davido and Olamide – they are the reasons why I am here right now and I am doing it like this. Yeah, I can’t say for sure what exactly it is that I am doing differently; I’m just doing me and it is what it is.”
