Abbas Tells Tinubu not to shy away from making tough decisions.

Speaker of the House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, urged President Bola Tinubu to promptly dismiss underperforming cabinet members. During Tuesday’s plenary session, Abbas emphasized the need for new strategies to tackle the widespread insecurity plaguing the country. He expressed concern that the ongoing security challenges could jeopardize the nation’s stability, noting that despite various efforts to address the situation, it continues to persist unabated.

The Speaker then advocated for novel strategies in addressing the situation, highlighting the inadequacy of conventional methods. He remarked, “The insurgency threats are severely challenging our nation’s peace and stability, with the surge in ransom kidnappings and unsettling unrest across all six geopolitical zones. Families and communities have faced immense hardships, and our thoughts are with all those affected by these tumultuous events”.

Moreover, the Speaker urged President Tinubu to enforce enhanced performance and accountability from our service chiefs and all security and enforcement agencies.

“I implore the President not to shy away from making the tough decisions. If necessary, we must not hesitate to enact changes within our security apparatus, for the cost of inaction is far too great to bear.”
