Emmanuel Chukuemeka Ejekiru, a Nigerian comedian and skit creator better known by his stage names “Sabinus” and “Mr Funny,” will play the lead role in Moses Inwang’s next film, Dead Serious.
Known for his humorous portrayal of Sabinus, a character whose activities generally land him in trouble, the social media star appears with other comedic figures, including Lawal Nasiru (Nasboi), Nkem Owoh (Osuofia), and Albert Oluwatoyin (Tomama/Datwarrigirl).
Alongside Sharon Ooja, who, as the teaser indicates, plays a key part as Sabinus’s love interest, are Lilian Afegbai, Funky Mallam, and Deyemi Okanlawon in the upcoming movie.
Sabinus has previously acted in Nollywood movies including A Bag of Trouble and Man of War. In December 2023, he debuted his first feature-length film, Sabinus (The Best Man), in theaters. The cast of the film include Afeez Oyetoro, Lasisi Elenu, Tobi Bakre, Gregory Ojefua, and Osita Iheme.
David Rukeme is the film’s producer, while Moses Inwang, the celebrated director of Alter Ego, Blood Vessel, Merry Men 2 & 3, is also the story’s originator and director. 2019 saw Merry Men 2 earn 240 million naira at the box office, making it the biggest grossing movie in Nollywood that year.
The movie is being produced by Fortress Studios in association with Filmrite Studios.
On February 9th, Dead Serious will be accessible in theaters.
