Using pornography, according to Pope Francis “undermines sexual pleasure that is a gift from God”, characterizing it as “satisfaction without a relationship”.In a homily on Wednesday, the Pope discussed the gift of sexual pleasure as a gift from God during a series on vices and virtues at the Vatican. The speech concentrated on what he claimed “the demon of lust,” According to the Pope, sexual pleasure must be patiently done with disciplined.
“Among all human pleasures, sexuality has a powerful voice. It involves all the senses; it dwells both in the body and in the psyche, and this is very beautiful; but if it is not disciplined with patience, if it is not inscribed in a relationship and in a story where two individuals transform it into a loving dance, it turns into a chain that deprives human beings of freedom,” said the Pope.
“Sexual pleasure that is a gift from God is undermined by pornography: satisfaction without relationship can generate forms of addiction.
“We have to defend love, the love of the heart, of the mind, of the body, pure love in the giving of oneself to the other. And this is the beauty of sexual intercourse.” The Pope’s speech is taking place in the midst of harsh criticism directed at his new chief of doctrine, Victor Manuel Fernández, because of a book he wrote and had published in 1998 called “Mystical Passion: Spirituality and Sensuality”.
The book hasn’t been in circulation, but on January 8, it was revealed on a blog, and other media sites picked it up.
The book is divided into nine chapters. “The fire of divine love,” “A well of sublime passion,” “A crazy love story,” “Mystical passion,” “Until the end,” “My beautiful one come,” “Male and female orgasm,” “The path to orgasm,” and “God in the couple’s orgasm”.
According to Fernández, the book was inspired by research he conducted with a group of married couples on orgasm in both genders with the goal of determining whether or not it had any bearing on how they responded to God.
The new condemnations also occur one month after Fernández, as director of the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith, submitted a statement that was eventually accepted by the Pope and contained guidelines permitting priests to bless partnerships between same-sex couples.
