Two students of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Ilorin, Ganiyat Jamiu and Onize Abdulkareem, have been rewarded with financial awards by the Indorama Corporation, makers of Indorama Fertiliser.
The Award was held in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, on Monday.
David Kunle, Representative of the corporation, during the presentation of the awards, said it was in recognition of the exceptional achievements by the students.
According to Kunle, the corporation rewarded the students for being outstanding in their academic performances in Farm Practical Training (FPT).
He clarified that the main goal of the scholarships was to support the university’s scholarly efforts to promote agriculture.
Kunle explained: “We picked universities across the country as part of our giving back to Nigerian society because we want to encourage the students in agriculture to put more effort.
“It is a way of telling the students that there is a prospect in agriculture and to tell them to put more efforts into their studies.
“They also need to know that their stay is not by chance. They are learning agriculture by choice so that at least they will be fully baked”.
Prof. Oluyemisi Fawole, the dean of the school’s faculty of agriculture, also expressed gratitude to the business for its ongoing support of education and its investment in the goals and aspirations of Nigerian students.
Fawole said the kids’ diligence, tenacity, and enthusiasm for Agricultural Sciences have not gone ignored, and praised the company’s kindness and belief in developing potential.
“You have proven that excellence knows no boundaries, and your achievements serve as an inspiration to your peers and future generations of students.
”Today’s event underscores the importance of forging strong partnerships that contribute to the development of our students and the agricultural sector as a whole,” she added.
